Sauvignon Blanc - Amelia Wynn Winery
2011 - Yakima Valley, 13.7% Alc.
100% Sauvignon Blanc
Amelia Wynn Winery’s first white wine. It is styled after a Sancerre, where no oak aging has occurred, nor secondary malolatic fermentation. The intent was to produce a white wine that showcased the fruit with expressions of citrus, pear, melon, and pineapple. The fruit was hand picked in the morning from 30-year-old vines planted by Tom Judkins of the Inland Desert Vineyard approximately 5 miles east of Benton City in the Yakima AVA. Fruit was harvested at 23.75 brix, .74 ta, & pH of 3.21. It was fermented at 65-67° F until dry. The alcohol at 13.7% insures a food friendly wine without being hot and over bearing. It is soft on the palate and would pair very well with delicate fish dishes and milder soft cheeses.
